Rebuilding Ancient Ruins in Tzfat

Rebuilding Tzfat – To Build and To Be Built

A strong connection to the land comes through direct involvement in building it.

The natural beauty, the unique personalities who live there, the special Shabbat and holiday atmosphere in the air, and a strong spiritual aura make the ancient city of Tzfat a fertile ground for personal and Jewish growth.

Many layers of Jewish tradition can be found in the rubble left from our ancestors.

Livnot U’Lehibanot- To Build U'Lehibanot – and To Be Built

Through digging out and rebuilding ruins from Tzfat’s magical Kabbalistic era 400 years ago, and through stimulating and thought provoking discussions on relevant Jewish topics, Jewish young adults, housed in the Livnot center of Tzfat, develop a strong connection to their Jewish roots.

Over the years Livnot has offered the Digging-Rebuilding-Discussion module to any group desiring to enhance its connection to the Land of Israel and to Judaism. Israeli high school students and soldiers, as well as overseas missions, Bar/Bat Mitzvah groups, birthright Israel groups, synagogues and community missions, all come to work, for a month, a week or even for a morning.

Walking around the old city, visitors can see the tremendous impact that Livnot's work has had in rebuilding the city.

Dozens of plaques recognizing Livnot's work can be seen in the public parks, alleyways, ancient synagogues and parts of the 3000 year old cemetery – all built under the supervision of Livnot's professional staff, program participants and volunteers.
